Langtang Trek

The Langtang Trek gives fabulous views of the Himalayas and enables trekkers to get into some of the more remote areas of Nepal. This trek can take up to two weeks and takes you to glaciers in the Langtang Valley. This trail goes through both Tamang and Tibetan villages and there are spectacular views of the Ganesh Himal to the North West.

The trek passes through remote areas but there are lodges along the track. There is a real diversity of scenery and culture as the trek ascends Trisuli Bazaar at 541 metres to Kyanjiin Gompa at 3870 metres. At Kyanjin Gompa there is a well known monastery and a cheese factory (yak cheese). From here some trekkers continue to the glacial moraine to see Langtang Lirung whilst others continue to join up with the Helumbu Valley trek. Some visitors take time out if the weather conditions are favourable to see the scenic and sacred Gosainkund Lakes.

For an area not frequented by many visitors and for an insight into the remoter cultures of Nepal the Langtang is a challenging and tough trek, but the rewards are entirely worth it.
